FAQ
Below, you?ll find some of the most frequently asked questions about our practice and medical marijuana, in general. If you?re still unsure, remember that you will not be charged for your consultation if you are found to be ineligible for medical marijuana certification. The best way to get answers to your questions is to schedule an appointment with one of our board-certified physicians.
Q1. Which conditions qualify for medical marijuana?
Eligibility criteria varies by state.
In California, your doctor may legally prescribe medical marijuana if you are found to have any chronic condition that impairs your ability to conduct any of the major activities of daily life, as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. Learn more by visiting the California Department of Public Health Medical Marijuana Card Identification Program website.
In New York, the guidelines are not quite so liberal, but you can find the information you?re looking for on the New York State Medical Marijuana FAQs page. At the time of this writing, the following conditions qualify for medical marijuana certification in New York:
- Cancer
- Parkinson?s Disease
- HIV or AIDS
- Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS)
- Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
- Certain Types of Spinal Cord Injury
- Epilepsy
- Inflammatory Bowel Disease
- Neuropathy
- Huntington?s Disease
- Chronic Pain
As you know, regulations change, so be sure to check with your state authority on medical marijuana for the most accurate and up-to-date information. If you do not reside in California or New York, please contact a physician in your state of residency.

Q3. Will I be able to have my telemedicine consult using any web browser?
You may access your visit using Mozilla, Firefox, or Google Chrome. Please be sure to download one of these free web browsers prior to your visit.
Q4. Will I be able to have my telemedicine consult using a mobile device?
Yes.
Q5. What are my next steps after receiving my medical marijuana certification?
Once you receive your certification, you should register with the appropriate state authority.
- In New York, it is required, and you may do so online.
- In California, registration is only available in person, and although it is optional, we highly recommend it. You will have your gold-stamped seal sent to you via snail mail. Beginning in 2018, you will need to have a registration with the state in order to avoid state sales tax. We can email your registration request for you.
Q6. What forms of medical marijuana are available in New York?
Vapor, tincture (sublingual) or pills. These are further classified by THC and CBD ratios.
Q7. Where do I send my records?
You can fax them to 315-308-2726 or email them to info@holisticoncall.com
Q8. Which ages do you treat?
Our patients must be at least 18 years of age in all states.
Q9. How do I set up my follow up visit?
As long as your dosing recommendation has not expired, you may schedule your follow up by clicking on get started and log into your Heally account.
Q10. What should I do if I request a visit and my appointment time has passed?
Please give us a call. Although we want to serve you as quickly as possible, the physician on duty may be seeing another patient. In some instances, appointments do run longer than expected, but please rest assured that you will receive the same courteous and thorough care.
Q11. Will Holistic On Call fill my medical marijuana prescription?
No. Marijuana may only be purchased through a dispensary.
Q12. Where can I purchase my medication?
Please find a dispensary by searching one of the many 3rd party online directories. In New York, you may find your information on the Health Department website. Unfortunately, Holistic On Call is not able to suggest a particular dispensary at this time.
Q13. Why do you ask for a pharmacy? Will marijuana be sent there?
We ask that you select a local pharmacy, because we also provide non-emergent care that is non-marijuana related, in instances where you are not able to see your primary care provider. We are not here to replace your doctor, however. We simply offer this service in cases where your primary physician is unavailable to you.
Q14. Do you price match?
Yes, we will price match kind-for-kind services offered by any of our competitors.
